Your FLUPSY Circulation Solutions

A “Flupsy” (Floating Upweller System) is used to grow certain shellfish species. It’s a nursery system for Oysters and other shellfish. The containment area of the flupsy allows the shellfish to grow and mature in a safe environment.

Ice Eaters for Flupsy’s

Many clients using a Flupsy system also use the Ice Eater to circulate the water and feed for the growth of the Oysters and other shellfish. This flupsy arrangement can handle high water volumes and can be easily moved to multiple locations. The shellfish feed off the tide from the Flupsy and it can filter up to 50 gallons of water in 24 hours.

Originally, shellfish growers realized that Ice Eaters fit their need to create an artificial tide. Using different horsepower Ice Eater’s in a FLUPSY is an excellent way of successfully supporting oysters during each stage of life.

Flupsy Operation

In the Floating Upweller System (Flupsy), a motor with a propeller moves water through a ‘trunk line’ and containers containing shellfish.

The shellfish feed on the circulating water of the flupsy and are able to grow in a protected controlled environment.
